"JANUARY NEWS"

January 11, 2007

Mrs. Cole's and Mrs. C. Thomas's classes did a project for the Carl
Perkins Center in Henderson. They collected canned goods and donated
them to the center.
Mrs. Holdren's fourth graders have been digging. They are studying
fossils. One of their projects was to make fossils out of seashells.
Mrs. Joan Smith's and Mrs. Kirk's fourth graders are becoming pen pals.
They are corresponding through letters and emails with Brad Schultz's
fifth grade class at the Greater Atlanta Christian School in Atlanta,
Georgia. The students will gain knowledge of letter writing skills.
In Mrs. England's fifth grade classroom, she has set up six stations.
The stations include: educational computer games, AR books, art
activities, writing prompts, reading skill sheets and Brain Quest
cards. Teams of four students each rotate around the stations and
have fun learning.
AR points are really climbing. What is so amazing is that the fourth
grade is leading the pack. The sixth grade is coming in second with
the fifth grade in third place overall.
In individual scores, those making it up to 25 points are: Morgan
Smith, Karina Bogard, Alexa Murphy, Baylie Pruett, Micahi Whitfield,
Patrick Hatch, Kasey White, Daniel Dailey, Jerry Davis, Glenna Green,
Hunter Hemby, Elisabeth Hibbitt, Erika Hughes, Jamie Moody, Shianne
Vinson, Tiffany Cawthon, Zack Bethune, Davell Bond, Todd Flatt, Sam
Kesler, Cody Crouse, and Dakota Crouse.
Going up to 50 points are: Cody Braden, Kerry Merrill, Andrew Johnson,
Samuel Sides, Mia McNeal, Shannon Smith, and Kaitlin Wheatley. Climbing
to 100 points are: Hunter Anderson and Leah Belew. Tyler Hall now has
over 150 points. Keep on reading!!
Mr. Fenimore announced our Teacher of the Year. It is Mrs. Melissa
Alexander. We are very proud she has gotten this honor at CCMS. She
is very concerned about her students and shows it in her teaching each
day.
Over the holidays some little elves came into the office and put down
new carpet and some new covering on the counter. It looks very nice
and adds a special feeling to our office. Drop by and see our new
look.
Remember to pack EFFORT into your bag each day to make it a good one!
